Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF)
Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) is a highly efficient water treatment process widely used for the separation and removal of suspended solids, oils, greases, and other contaminants from wastewater. The process works by dissolving air into water under pressure and then releasing the air at atmospheric pressure in a flotation tank. This release forms millions of microbubbles that attach to the suspended particles, causing them to float to the surface. The floated material is then skimmed off, while the clarified water is discharged from the bottom.
Applications and Benefits
DAF systems are extensively applied in industries such as food and beverage, oil refining, textiles, pulp and paper, and municipal wastewater treatment plants. The technology provides significant advantages, including high removal efficiency of solids and fats, compact design, and low energy consumption compared to other separation methods. By delivering superior water quality, DAF systems not only ensure compliance with environmental regulations but also contribute to water reuse and sustainable resource management.
